Are bonus accessories necessary?

Exactly how necessary are the extra accessories such as neckloops, bluetooth, DAI, etc.? we don't usually use any of fancy cell phones, iPods or TVs, however we do often listen to audio books and watch dvds while on the boat.
Are these extra accessories worth the extra inconvenience of the all the cables and the expense of the SoundGate, TV adapter, T-link, audio splitters, etc.?
Should the hearing aid be enough?

If you've been listening to audio books and dvds without hearing aids up until this this point, then your experience will be so much better with your hearing aids on! The "extras" are not really necessary at all, unless of course, you NEED the extra amplification of sound in both ears, but, judging from your audiograms, you guys aren't going to need that extra volume yet. If I were in your place, I would just start out with the HAs and leave it at that. I use a cell phone daily and have found the bluetooth streamer to be a very nice convenience, but not a necessity. I am trailing a TV thingamadoo, but again i do not find it a necessity at all.
