remore necessary?

i'm thinking about buying a hearing aid, probably the unitron next 16.
the BTE with the #31 battery size and the Moxi 16 with the #213 battery size cost the same.
neither have an external VC and it can only be controlled with a remote control which makes the cost a considerable amount more. there is also a button that can be programmed as a VC OR Program control but that would take up 3 additional programs.
if the unit has 3 auto programs how important is a VC?
my hearing loss is mild to moderate in my left ear, and very mild in my right. would that make having a remote a luxury or would it be helpful?
I genreally need help when in a crowd or at seminars.
thanks for your thoughts.

It very much depends on your listening environment. I'm a teacher and I'm often using different classrooms. When I'm in a large classroom with a small class(especially if the majority of those students are young, shy freshmen women since I have a high frequency loss) I need to turn the volume up.That's the only time I need the volume adjusted, but it really is a life-changer for me. My aids have a button on the unit and I also have an optional remote. I can function easily enough with the HA controls, but the remote allows me to adjust based on the student I'm talking to without being obvious.
