Channel free- pro's and con's

Recently i've been researching the bernafon verite and have read about how it's channel-free. I'm confused as far as the channels go. Wouldn't a ha with a higher number of channels e more adjustable? I read that music sounds better with the channel free, why is this?
i was also wanting to find out what the difference is between the Bernafon Verite and Veras, since they are both channel free hearing aids. To me it seems like there are more people with experiences with the Verite on this Forum than with the Veras.

with channel-free hearing aids there is less distortion to the signal. the fact that there is less distortion to the signal is said to help preserve the signal and some of the quality, not to mention improvement in vowel identification.

channel-free ha's still have frequency bands but not channels,in other words the level within each band is not calculated, just the overall level.
