One aid or two

I've been using an cheap amplifying aid in my left ear, since it's loss is worse than my right. It works ok, but it doesn't adjust to loud noises such as a dog barking or something. I'm thinking about getting an open ear digital like a Delta 8000 or Phonak Micro-Eleva. I'd prefer to just start with one, rather than having to wear two. Is that practical goal or no?

If your hearing is the same in both ears, and you do need hearing aids, then you will function better using two hearing aids in noisy situations and for sound localization. If you are just going to be be in quite environemnts then you'll likely do just fine with one. The more complex the situation, the more likely you are to need to use both of your ears together.

Depending on the return policy of the clinic you're going to you could possibly try two and return on if you don't feel that you need both. Thats what I do when I have patients who are debating whether they need one or two aids. Its important that you don't sit in front of the TV and try one, then both. That would not an accurate environment two test whether or not you need one or two aids. Try real-life situations such as at a restaurant or in a group. This type of environment will give you a more accurate idea of the what your needs are.

Almost always two hearing aids, unless one of your ears is normal hearing.

Hi guest! I would like to suggest here that you should use two hearing aids by which sound quality will be improved. Hope my suggestion will be helpful to you. Thanks!
