Adjustment time period

How long does it take to get used to hearing aids? Its been a week and so far I'm not entirely satisfied. I feel like I'm plugged up and hate having somehitng in my ears (RITE). Everything is SO noisy! People's voices sound tinny, others and my own. I'm also having trouble with feedback. I'm trying to press through but will I ever adjust to these?

Took me about a month to get accustomed to my aids. So much so that sometimes now I even lie down for bed without taking my aids out and have to get back up again.

Also be warned about the shower, hearing aids and showers do not mix well! I couldn't stand having something in my ear at first, but don't worry it gets better and soon you won't eben notice that they're there.

I never got used to my ITC aids and would always take thme out at lunch to give my ears a rest, but I recently got Open Fit and man are they great, I put them in and immediately forget that I've got aids in, they're so comfortable!

It's obviously not natural to have something shoved in your ear but you will acclimate to aids if they are set up correctly for your loss and are fitted properly. When you first start wearing aids you hear a whole new set of sounds that you haven't heard in a while so it takes your brain a while to adjust to it and then you will start to feel more comfortable. Your best bet is to visit your audi and talk with them about it, see if adjustments need to be made. Molds can be made from many different materials and vented differently so you may want to ask your audi about that as well. If you're having a lot of trouble with feedback there are an infinite amount of adjustments that can be made to help you with that.
