Is an Audiologist Qualified to Test My Hearing?
Sun, 06/06/2010 - 05:23
I have a pretty severe loss (i was born with a hearing impediment)and I'm wondering if you guys think I'll be able to go with CIC hearing aids that are hidden from view. I really do not want the aids visible in the ear and will not wear BTE aids.
Either way, I'll get an audiogram done ASAP. Do I need to go to an ENT for that or can I find a local clinic/audiologist/dispenser and take the test with them? Does it matter who I use?
Thanks.

Be open to other choices... I would not completely rule out other products (like BTE)

From my point of view, hearing is more important than having it look like i don't have any hearing problems.
When I'm starting a customer support call, I have to tell them that I am hearing impaired and to please understand if I ask them to repeat something. That is better than them thinking that you are just not listening to them.

the ENT offices that i have been to here have audiologists working co-located in the office. the ENT will send you to the audiologist to get the hearing test done.
