BAHA and Hybrid Implants

Has anyone every used it? Can I please get some advice so I could check it out! Thanks!

I have used them and they are amazing! I have a high frequency hearing loss where I could hear fine; however, I was having problems understanding what people were saying especially on t.v. or movies. Having a hearing aid before, it just made things louder. I needed clarification not amplification and that is exactly what the hybrid implant did!

The purpose of the hybrid was to restore hearing without damaging low frequency hearing which hearing aids have a tendency to do. I have one and I barely notice I have a hearing loss.

I have heard of the BAHA implant and was wondering if anyone knows more information about this? Is it effective?

The BAHA implant is an implant that is surgically inserted not in the middle of the ear but can be implanted behind the ear. This is because it allows sound to be conducted through bone.

The BAHA implant is good for those who have single sided hearing loss, constant ear infections, mixed losses of hearing, and people with narrow ear canals. I hope this helps!

I'm very skeptical on this implant. It is hooked onto the outside of your head. What if something get hooked on it. One time my cousin casted his fishing rod and caught my sister's ear and yanked. What if something happened like that to the implant? It doesn't seem safe. Is there something to modify it so we can avoid situations like that?

BAHA stands for bone-anchored hearing aid hence it transducts signal through the bone. These are for people who have conductive hearing loss, single sided hearing loss, mixed hearing loss, or for people who can not wear in the ear or behind the ear hearing aids. BAHA is a sound processor and not a traditional hearing aid that most people are familiar with.
