Direct Mail Hearing Aids

I think buying a hearing aid through mail is like buying your contacts through mail. You have to be fitted for the item as well as seen by the doctor. I think it is a waste of money.

Really- so you think buying direct is the way to go? It does make more sense now that you broke it down. Most sites ask you for your test results anyway don't they?

I think this doctor and audiologists were a but glib and simply assumed that I was committed to aids and all I had to do was take their advice.
The audi looked at me as a typical person with high frequency hearing loss.
Did the Pulse make my hearing sharper? It did. But it was simply not worth $4000. If the audiologist had really interviewed me and tested my hearing in actual situations... he might have realized that I was not a candidate for aids at this time... that in my case the cost vs benefit was not there. I tried to explain this to him, but he is so convinced of what he is doing and his power to improve people's lives that he was unable to HEAR what I was telling him.
I also didn't like the BS about the full coverage 1 yr insurance and the trial period which has a "restocking" charge and sizable deductible... and he never gave me the contract I supposedly signed. I am waiting for that. The whole experience IMO was forced and not personable.

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately, there are a number of immoral people out there who try to take advantage of the consumer public.

I disagree. Why not pay for the audiologists services and not have to pay him a commission for selling hearing aids??? Seriously- A fifteen minute visit doesn't cost that much. I had a hearing test by an ENT who sent me to an audiologist to get fitted for hearing aids. I had no futher testing done... they didn't even look into my ear canal! He only looked at my test results and then stated he was setting me up with the ReSound Pulse hearing aid. I was told that I would "need" 3 visits to "tune" the device and it would take time to adjust it. I only used the HA for 2 weeks and decided it was not worth it. Don't get me wrong there was an improvement in my hearing but not enough to warrant spending the $4000.00.
If I decide to get a device I will buy one and find an audi to program it. I don't think all the adjustment period with three visits is necessary and I don't need someone to clean the wax from my ears!
In my opinion- These devices are overpriced and these operations are protecting their profit centers and so they tell you not to buy direct.
