Standby mode

I'm trying out a pair of Oticon Epoq WV BTE hearing aids. The book that came with them talks about putting them in standby mode by pressing and holding the volume button for 3 secs. I've tried this and it doesn't seem to do anything.
Right nowthe button on the left HA is set to control the programs and the button on the right HA is set for volume control.
Is the standby function in all of these HA's or is it something that I might not have an the book is refferring to another aid.
