Buzzing Phonaks

About five weeks ago I started witha pair of Oticons that were about a medium cost. I had a ton of problems and finally exchanged them for a more expensive pair of Phonak Exceilai Art BTEs. I like them much better but I am having one problem with them though. There is sometimes a buzzing like when I'm in my car, or when a particular lamp is on, or when I walk under lights at work. Yesterday they started buzzing when I walked into the foyer of my bank, it seems to be fairly unpredicatable and is definitely annoying. I just started a new job and so I have had some difficulting getting in to see my audiologist, any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Have you tried changing programs manually? Well unless its the micro petite, I don't think that one has a program button.

The problem might be that the aids are poorly earthed or grounded. BTEs are sheilded to reduce Electromagnetic interference. The aid should be grounded back to the negative terminal of the battery. Most also often have a R/C array (low pass filter) that is supposed to reduce noise on the mic side. The problem with your aid might be that this function is not working like it is supposed to.

I have an Exelia Art too. From your description as well as my own experience, I think it is most likely the telecoil. Anytime I get near a magnetic field it will hummm or buzz which is what it sounds like is happening to you too. I notice it the most when I get near those curly-Q light bulbs or if I put my ear next to a wall switch that runsto a ceiling light. I find that it is only a problem when the aid is in manual mode.

The telecoil might be turned on...
