New Siemens aid vs. New Widex Aid
Fri, 06/11/2010 - 02:58
i'm trialing both the Siemens MOtion 700 and the WideMInd 440.
The Siemens aid seems to be the most convenient:
The Siemens has Bluetooth for phones, IPods, TVs etc,
and the ability to adjust one aid and it automatically adjusts that other wirelessly ( not Bluetooth.)
The Widex seems to make speech more natural and to a minor extent more understandable, but this is at the expense of some of the noise reduction capabilities.
It is a real trade off.
In my view, both of these hearing aids are VERY good.
is anyone able to share experience with the "sound quality" issue?
( Both of the hearing Aids have only been out a couple of months....
so their might not be alot of experience with them.
Thanks!

What is the exact model of Widex Mind 440 are you using?
Because there are a LOT...
Mind 440 m4-m
Mind 440 m4-m-CB
Mind 440 m4-9
Mind 440 m4-19
Mind 440 m4-CIC
Mind 440 m4-X
The different models have different sound capabilities (frequency bandwidth and distortion), that's why I ask.
The Siemens Pure 700 only has a bandwidth of 100-7.6k Hz with a 1.0% distortion... whereas the mind440 has bandwidth up to 10kHz and distortion of around 0.4% (depending on the model). Obviously there are other factors that will influence how "they sound", but generally higher bandwidth devices will sound more natural.
Widex seems to lead on this front.
Products are always about tradeoffs
