Domes making ears itch

I recently bought hearing aids and I'm having trouble with the ear domes making my ear canal itch. No rash or anything has developed yet but I'm wonding if I might be allergic to the material the tubes are made of. I have quite a few allergies, is it possible to get domes that are hypoallergenic? Any other suggestions as to why I am experiencing so much discomfort?

I am allergic to the domes as well. They're made of silicone. I have tried so many things, molds and domes made of hypoalergetic silicone, as well as hypoalergetic acrylic molds. I'm currently trying polyethylene which I haven't reacted to but it still isn't is very comfortable. I guess the only solution for us is to keep searching for a material that our ear canals do not react to. I'm still in the process, I hope you have better luck!

The problem may not be due to an allergy. I have had itching in my ear canal too and I think that it is due to the domes movinf around in my ear canal. I'm going to switch to larger domes or maybe some custome Rite molds.

I'd say try using Miracell. I use it everyday and it pretty much stops the itching. You could also try cortisone cream, but be careful not to use it too much. No more than once or twice a day for a couple days.

I asked my audi about the itching and they told me that the domes are not made of latex. They gave me a smaller sized dome and then the itching went away. Talk to your audi and maybe they can give you a different sized dome that will not agrivate your ear canals.

This also happened to me and originally I thought I was allergic to something. But I noticed that the speaker wires were just too long and so it was causing the aids to not fit well and were irritating my ear canals. I was having to take them out every half hour or so to scratch my ears. Talk about obnoxious and embarrassing. My audi switched the speaker wires froma 3 to a 2 and now I hardly notice that I'm wearing any aids at all. Ask your audi to check on this for you and it may easily solve your problem.
